OMG!!!!!

One of my University friends has never seen SNATCH!!!!

I'm Horrified!!!!

Random Fact - this is random!!!

Christopher Lee, well known British actor has released a Symphonic- Metal album back in 2010 and is releasing a new album this year!!!

The actor best know for films such as Dracula (The Hammer Horror Classic) and Stars Wars  to name a few films decided to release his second album to celebrate his 91st birthday!!!!

AWESOME!!!!!

Cometh the reawakening of Stephen King's Carrie

As the title suggest, Carrie will be released to our screens this November, one day before Halloween.

This spine tingling drama from the crazy mind of Stephen King who has brought you The Shining and IT. Carrie is sure to make shivers run up your spine and your blood run cold.

For the main star, playing this isolated teen is no problem , Chole Grace Mortez known for her role as that bad ass chick who swears and kicks you ass Hit Girl in the film version of Kick Ass the graphic novel but this role might be a new era for her. Playing staring roles in the films Hugo and Dark Shadows, Chole is going into a darker and deeper role.

Carrie of course was originally released in 1976, and was terrifying back then but this new film directed by Kimberly Pierce it is sure to contain blood, guts and freaky physiological horror.

The image that sticks in all our minds is a girl covered in pig's blood as she attends her high school prom. That image is one of the most famous in film.

Whatever you may think of Stephen King you have to watch this... when it comes to cinemas in November...

Doctor Who becomes a baddy in the film How To Catch A Monster

We all know and love Matt Smith as the Darlek fighting , eccentric Time lord in the BBC One Sci-Fi Doctor Who.   But Matt is leaving Cardiff and the Darlek's and heading for Hollywood in the new film How To Catch A Monster staring hunk Ryan Gosling.

But here is the shocker Matt isn't going to be the good guy, in leaving Cardiff (the home of the Doctor Who sets) he is becoming the baddy playing the role of Bully in the new film.

Sporting a 70's haircut there Matt!
Matt is no stranger to the world of movies having a small part in the film In Brugges (set of course in Burgges Belgium) The sci fi clone Epic stars Colin Farrell as the main star.

The Doctor sat down with Total film and described the change in character as:
"The opposite of what i'm doing right now, which is really interesting,He's wired in a different way and he's from a different place."
Although we all know and Love him as the Doctor this may be the meal ticket to get him into Hollywood, but his Time Lord Duties are not over. No with the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who just around the corner, that reunites all the Doctors including his predecessor David Tennet it is sure to be an episode to rock die hard fans worlds!

On set Matt admits there was a 'Bromance' between him and Ryan on set, which makes me smile... i'm sure this film will have bums on seats and the odd sonic screwdrivers flashing in the audience.

The Graduate- The Monsters go to University

Yes thats right everyones favourite animated monsters are back and this time majoring in the art of scaring!!!

Monsters University could be classed as the prequel to Disney's Monsters Inc, without the cuteness of Boo this time we see Mick and Sully living it up on Campus, not drinking keggers and throwing up everywhere unlike most university students... I should know I am one!!! But instead causing family fun that will make the whole family laugh...

So if you loved the original.... then this is the film for you and your little monsters!!!!

Welcome to the Elysium

From the Director that brought you District 9, comes the next Sci-Fi Epic, in my last post I promised you New Movie News, so here it is....

Elysium is set to be the top Sci-fi film to see this year, counting out Oblivion (which actually disappointed cinema audiences) with the same sort of narrative it promises to be filled with political thriller action plus Matt Damon running around the Earth in 2154 (Earth is now just a massive giant garbage refuge site or a 'Dump') with a massive machine gun trying to get up the social class ladder to get into the space station where the rich people live and get out of the Poverty stricken Earth where disease is rife and well there is just trash everywhere.

With all this going on, there would be no fun to a film without the highly charged baddy set to keep the poor people out of the nice place and away from them. The baddy comes in the shape of Jodie Foster.
It's kinda nice to have a female baddy for a change, but as you can see Jodie looks cold and cruel from the outset.

Having been dumbed by Total Film Magazine "The New Avatar" without the Aliens of course this film is going to kick some butt at the box office!!!

Anyway whether you like Sci-fi/political films give this one a watch when it hits the screens on the 20th September 2013 (UK cinemas).

El Tango De Roxanne

I harped on about it ... but watch it for yourself AMAZING!!!!

Can a Soundtrack make a film?

Well heres the question, Soundtracks are now one of the ways of hooking us general public into buying into a film whether we like it or not!

Soundtracks are not an old hat trick oh no... with scores such as Jaws being only two notes being one of the most identifiable villain tracks in the world... and all for a shark. Or when Darth Vader appears that score is instantly etched into our sub conscious.

It's only when music stars get involved that it gets interesting, some films can sometimes claim their success not only on the craftsmanship of  the film itself but the track. Sometimes you can't remember the name of the film the track comes from but can remember the song and who sang it. For example... The Song by Aqua Turn Back Time can you actually remember the film that Soundtrack came from???  Well the film was Sliding Doors (1998) staring Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah. The film centres around a woman's love life and whether she catches a train on the London Underground or not.  Interestingly I haven't seen this film but absolutely love the song that accompanied it.  Other tracks that have made it big along with the films that they accompany are I See You- the X-Factor (UK) winner Leona Lewis known for her big voice and a nack for singing ballads sang the song that was specially written for the 2010 blockbuster and one of my personal favourite films ever Avatar!!! With a love story that captivated the hearts of it's audience, a man falling in love with a 10ft alien as well as the life of the Na'Vi it was no surprise that this song was huge!!!

Other songs that made it big was Lovefool by The Cardigans (big 1990's band) who had a hit with this song as the soundtrack to Baz Luhramm who went on to make the successful Moulin Rouge, again one of my favourite films ever. Love Fool fitted the whole idea of Romeo and Juliet but made it more accessible in a way to an audience who loved the song as well as the new way of working Shakespearean plays into a new exciting way. The film is fantastic and Leonardo Di Caprio is outstanding in this film , to say he was young when he actually filmed this movie!!!
Another Di Caprio film that made us all cry with not only the film but the actual song was of course the James Cameron epic that is Titanic!!!
Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On is a massive POWER BALLAD!!! Again wrote for the film itself, it captures the very essence of what the story is about, a girl falling in love with a boy who she can not love!!! Kate Winslet is AMAZING!!!! as Leonardo Di Caprio ... I actually have a thing for him... me and my mother spend nights in watching these films because they are so good!!!! This song was sang repeatedly by my friend when i was in primary school and I love it still although at the time i began to hate it!!!

Classic Album!!!
Other films that I love purely based on the soundtrack is Iron Man (I fell asleep watching both 1 &2) but the thing that really got me was the fact that the whole film is basically EVERY AC/DC TRACK EVER!!! From Highway to Hell to Back In Black (not sure if Thunderstruck is on it?!). As a AC/DC fan and a bit of a Heavy metal girl it was awesome just to hear Angus Young's guitar playing out of my TV when Iron Man comes into shot in The Avengers!!!!  Can't remember the actual song but it made me smile!!!

Moving on from the single songs to a compilation of tracks, some films use a multitude of songs in their films, these maybe because A) It's a musical or B) because it has to use various tracks for narrative purposes.
One of the greatest albums for a musical was of course the 1975 film Grease... everyone I know LOVES GREASE!!! My mum's first album which was an LP Vinyl was the soundtrack to Grease!!!

From all the most loved songs like Summer Nights and Grease Lightening are still played today at any occassion from weddings, christenings to bloody family reunions after the booze has flowed and everyone is doing their walking to the dance floor dance (To learn more on that expression youtube UK comedian Peter Kay) as a northern girl from the UK the Grease Megamix was always on when I was growing up followed by Black Lace Agadoo or Superman. From your nan to your distant cousins everyone would flood to the dance floor just to relive the treasure memories of when they first saw Grease.

Musicals that also have a great soundtrack and have remastered and actually made the tracks more appealing to an audience was The Moulin Rouge (2001), yes putting in songs such as Nirvana Smells Like Teen Sprit mixed in with Lady Marmalade was epic!!! To tracks such Roxanne by The Police which was put into an Argentine Tango medley was amazing... that made me absolutely love ... the actual power that came across with this sexy and seedy revamp of a classic song .. which is a treasured song I have on my Ipod... The power of the track blows me away ... The Moulin rouge is simply one of my Favourite Films EVER!!!!

Another soundtrack that i really constantly listen to is of course The Boat That Rocked soundtrack, it is a compilation of all the best 1960's songs going with The Kinks , The Beachboys and The Who featuring on the album and in the film. I love this film as I am a radio student at university and to see how to play pop music in the 60's you had to be on a boat in the middle of the North Sea just to please the General Public, the humor and traditional British Comedy within this film (again Legend Richard Curtis Thank you!!!) is just one worth to watch... and you can get out your tie die gear or your mini skirt and dance like it's 1964 all over again!!!

So I ask again the question does a soundtrack make a film... or does the film make the soundtrack ... who knows ... but whatever the answer maybe the sound track is important!!!

A Deadly Sin -Another fictional serial killer is born

it was ages ago when I mentioned i was writing a script as part of my university course but i'm pleased and so so happy to say that it is finally completed!

28 pages worth of angst, tension, murder and love all come to a head in a ER department!

Absolutely shattered but well worth it!

Superman For The Next Generation

I'm really excited for this, yes I am a massive comic book fan and when it comes to the re-making of a cult classic I was getting really worried but with actors such as Kevin Costner and Russel Crowe my fears have been slightly put at ease.

We all remember Christopher Reeve as the original superman of the 1970's and 80's but this revamp comes with a twist. Instead of the leading role being cast to a American actor this time the baton has been handed to an English Man!!!

Famous for his role in The Tudors Henry Cavill does have some massive shoes to fill, but the really wired thing which you can see from the photos is that as Superman he looks like Christopher Reeve!!!
Which may appeal to the older audience as well as the younger new generation.

I must say the film is a lot more darker than the originals which is good and lets face it the technology will be better this time around than the last. With real life locations used for the alien planet Krypton.

Whats not to like???

Man of Steel will be out in June!

Heres a sneaky peek!!!!
