Terminator Genisys - The Film for a New Generation That Kicked Butt!

In 1982 James Cameron, a little known writer and Director decided to write a screenplay that would become one of the most famous Sci-fi films in history!

Fast Forward to 2015, Genisys has been released in cinemas after a long wait for fans, questions surrounding the film and especially it's plot since the last two Terminator Films were such a disappointment with plot flaws and low box office success see's the Terminator film franchise fall from grace.... that is until Now!

When I first heard the whispers of a new Terminator film was in production I was sceptical!

The third and fourth films in the series were not the same and had many disappointing factors to do with the original narrative and in the fourth film no Arnie to be found.

So when the whispers became more fact than fiction and slowly film magazines such as Empire and Total Film had begun to unearth the truth about Genisys and it's narrative I began to become excited and looking forward to what would be the deciding film for the Terminator at the Box office for a modern day audience who were too young or had just been born when the original two films were made!

The Original Terminator was a small indie production that was made on a rather small budget compared to it's modern day successor.

And although James Cameron may not have had any direct involvement with Genisys there is a respectful additions of  both Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 that are then all intertwined together in a amazing new film that will blow you away!

I was born in 1992, so when I stumbled onto the Terminator series, I was a young adult, the nuclear war threat was over and social media was just beginning to boom with Facebook and Twitter becoming new additions to MySpace, a very young Youtube and MSN Messenger!

I was blown away with the idea that a computer system that should be protecting man kind could indeed gain it's own mind and make decisions and build robots that only had one programme and that was to kill.
What got me more interested in the actual original film series was the idea that you could change the course of history and indeed time with one simple act. Cause and Effect could be altered all in a simple change to the actual cause that sets off the effect later down the line and all it all started with Sarah Conner.
Linda Hamilton the original Sarah Conner 1984

When we are first introduced to Sarah Conner in the first Terminator, she is a sweet young girl who is trying to make a living by being a waitress in primitive 1984.

Little does she know how important she is and up until the point where the Terminator comes to kill her does the reality sink in with the aid of her love interest and protecter Kyle Reece , a solider in the Human Resistance from 2017.

Kyle knows his mission and will do anything to keep the mother or the resistance safe. Groomed by his leader and son of both Sarah and Reece John Conner to fall in love with his mother.

Reece is your stereotypical Hero Lead in any film.

He knows his mission, he has his flaws and difficulties from his past but is willing to do anything to save his damsel in distress and in doing so saving the world.

With Genisys the world is a different place and this includes 1984 itself. We're actually heading into Back to the Future Territory with the explanation as in to how this alternate 1984 occurs and this is just the beginning to what happens to be the best Terminator that doesn't have any involvement from it's creator!

Now and Then- Sarah Conner

Emilia Clarke is well known for her performance in HBO's 'Game of Thrones', but with the challenge of recreating such an iconic character of Sarah Conner it must of been the role of a lifetime. The Sarah Conner in Genisys reminds us of the  Sarah Conner we remember from Terminator 2 - Judgement Day.

Linda Hamilton's performance in Terminator 2 is legendary. Sarah Conner is no more a young girl but a fierce and strong woman ready to fight for her and her son's survival.
Clarke transports us as an audience back to Terminator 2 instantly. Her harsh and strong mentality and alternative reality to the original Conner is revealed  and when she first meets Kyle Reece it doesn't go as well as planned.
Kyle Reece - AKA Jai Courtney
For Kyle Reece it must have been a shock to find out the woman who you are supposed to protect and save, is well already looking after herself and doesn't really need help from him.

Reece has witnessed the cause to the alternative 1984 and is brought into a world where Terminators are already running riot.

Not only that he has to face his first task of not only running away from the police but do you remember the T-1000's?

Well they're back but in 1984!!!!

T1000 1991
The surreal and terrifying prospect of meeting not only the most amazing machines that first appeared back in 1991 in T2 but to then get your head round the possibility that they have been sent back to 1984.

As a Terminator fan this can literally make your head spin... and this is kind of a spoiler. I'm trying to keep as much as I can a secret but this film is worth going to see to find out more. Because this is just the tip of the iceberg!!

And heres when the shock of what has already to Sarah Conner kicks in for any Terminator Fan!

I don't really want to give the narrative away!!! I really want you to go and see it for yourselves!

Young Sarah Conner being Saved by the Terminator!

But one more little secret wouldn't hurt now would it?

We all know that The Terminator was sent to kill Sarah Conner in the original film but this isn't the original!! NO NO.

Give us a Smile Arnie!
One of the biggest shocks you will get at the start of this film is that Sarah Conner has relied and lived with the machine that has tried to kill her.

Arnie is back looking a little bit older than he did back in 1984 and well not in the best condition as a terminator.
He's had a few more years and his outer human skin is beginning to age more and more. With Wrinkles and Grey Hair you can't believe your eyes when you first see him again! He has also got a pet name as Sarah calls her terminator affectionately as 'Pops'.
The story goes that in 1979 a young 9 year old Sarah is made an orphan by not a T-800 but the later model T-1000 who murders her parents.

Meet T1000 2015!
So it seems fitting that the T-1000's are running around in 1984 and are very hard to get rid of.

The edge of your seat ride of a narrative speaks volumes and adds in realities that shouldn't mix well together. Terminator 1&2 were amazing as  individual films. The trick with Genisys that really works is that it has been able to blend both films together seamlessly.  Adding in extras that you can't imagine and still able to entertain and surprise effortlessly.

There is one more character that we cannot forget about as he is the key to linking all the amazing narrative together and his name is John Conner.

John Conner with Terminator in T2 Judgement Day 1991
We all remember the John Conner of 1991. He was a rebel with a troubled and some what disruptive attitude.
Forced into foster care due to his mother being locked up in an insane asylum for her telling the truth about the Terminators and the Future.

Since the last time we have seen John, he is now a man. A strong leader who has risen to his destiny with the battle scars to prove it.
His attitude to 'SkyNet' and the Terminators is one with venom and loathing.
His only need in the first ten minutes of the film is to make sure he succeeds in destroying SkyNet forever!
John Conner 2017

The John Conner you meet later is different and not in a good way. He is the reason to why there is an alternate 1984.

Not in terms of his own doing as he has had a little help from a familiar face that we will all recognise in the UK as the 11th Doctor in Doctor Who!

I would just like to say to Matt Smith that you were amazing in this film.. but I don't think I can look at you in the same way ever again!!!

Genisys should not be looked upon as a reboot of a classic film, rather as a instalment of a trilogy that lost it's way.

Whether you like it or not, please do not write Terminator Genisys off as another money making film that will disappoint. It was written and produced by fans of the original films who asked the permission of James Cameron to make a Terminator Film that would not disappoint not only Cameron himself but more importantly you the fans at home.

SkyNet's threat is now not about Nuclear weapons but more a close to home topic that we all use. Social Media and Technology that we rely on daily for information, entertainment, protection and even saving our lives. Genisys is a new reality for a modern day audience with the echo's of the old in the world of Terminator.
It might not be about the Nuclear Threat anymore but more about the infiltration of Technology into our everyday lives.

Terminator Genisys is out now in cinemas.

The Wolf Of Wall Street

From the outset this film was something I wanted to watch with Leonardo Dicaprio as the leading man, but also as it is a Scoresese film.
The film for me was more than I expected and was quite grotesque from the opening scene, with naked women and men running around, I never thought that the finacial system was that choatic,  with Drugs and Sex being some of the main themes.

The film is definately more aimed at men, and although I enjoy Leo's protrayel of main protagonist Jordan Belfort, I found myself cringing in places and not really enjoying the sexism that the film had throughout it with women being almost treated like objects rather than people. I know that as a woman I'm maybe reading to much into the film and the way women are treated. But in it's defence it was set in the 1980's.

The film won a Gloden Globe for best comedy, but like everything Scrosese does it has a deeper meaning to it and the film although full of funny moments, including Leo off his head on drugs shouting for someone to get off the phone in slurred manner I find that the underlying narrative is one that is dark, and that dark humour is something I love the most. Money is no object in this film and based on the true story, you see someone build up an empire, only through his own greed and recknessless have it all taken away from him with the FBI being involved, shopping in your closet friends and then spending three years in jail for that instead of twenty.

The other main thing that caught my eye is the way in which family matters didn't seem important with sex with prositutes before his wedding night and during the marriage with two children in the family unit.Punching his wife in the stamoch at one point in the end of the film.

Overall the film is a good watch, although long.... I think it's about 3 hours but if you have a nervous disposistion then do not watch this film as scenes are graphic from the outset. It's not my favourite Scorsese film of all time but it is a good film.

Life of Pi

There is something about this film that is just haunting but with 4 Oscars to it's name you can see why.

On the surface you think that this film is just about a boy and tiger forming a bonding after a ship-wreck but as it turns out there is a lot more meaning to this film than meets the eye. The beauty of the cinematography and CGI enables the story to go further and brings out emotions and provokes thoughts that you wouldn't even have crossed your mind.

The story is terrifying as Pi tells is just a fairytale version of the true events, using animals to explain characters that were actually on the tiny life boat, the story you believe is up to you, but in the end you want to believe the story of a boy trapped on a tiny boat with a tiger in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Pi as a character even as a child was and is diverse, always discovering new forms of religion and trying to understand them. Born a Hindu in french India, he discovers Christianity and Islam. A wise child his father teaches him a lesson that will be scar him for life, watching as tiger Richard Parker kills a goat in front of his eyes. I must explain his father runs a zoo, the family decide to sell up and move to Canada taking the animals along with them.
The film explores the notion of religion and the notion of God which is something so intricate in detail and to hear from a teenage boy is also strange but quite humbling.

In the end the true story is:
The Cook on the ship kills a sailer after he severely broke his leg and then decides to eat him, after that the cook becomes more violent and before Pi's eyes kills his mother and throws her overboard to the sharks swimming in the water. Pi then retaliates killing the cook and doing the same actions that he had done to his mother. He then has to survive on his own until he washes up on the shores of Mexico.

Which story we all want to believe is:
A Zebra, A Hyena , A Orangutan, A Tiger and of course Pi are on this tiny boat in the middle of the ocean, The Hyena eats and kills the Zebra and then the Orangutan before the Richard Parker the tiger kills the Hyena. With Pi still on boat he then stays away building a raft and allowing Richard Parker to have his own territory. Over the course of the film, he begins to train and form a bond with the tiger. Suffering with him throughout the stormy seas and feeding him. Once the boat hits ground in Mexico the tiger runs off in the jungle and doesn't look back.

The realisation you have is that the tiger is Pi. It is a beautiful film and well worth a watch.

Enders Games and Hunger Games Catching Fire

Over the past two day I have been catching up on my collection of films that I haven't as yet watched. Blame University. They are the people that have made sure that any films that I decide to watch is not an option.

Something important with these two films are the actual political themes that run through the films although both set in the future they have something that just makes you think about what the world might be coming to although they are in fact fiction.

The scary realisation of this themes are that they are aimed at younger people- and use young people as their main characters.

The Hunger Games is fantastic, not since Harry Potter have I been this excited although I haven't read the books as I got bored half way through the first chapter of the first Hunger Games book - and the film is slow to pick up pace but that is because I'm used to right here right now narrative! The second is more punchy and increasingly more violent.
Instantly you start to hate the Capitol and what it stands for and you'd rather see Katniss and the rest of districts begin to rise up and over throw the people in charge which happens in the last bit of the film and it is revealed what actually happened to District 13.
You realise that the only reason is that the Capitol and President Snow is frightened that a war will kick off once the up rising begins and that in the end Katniss is the symbol of this resistance.
The more graphic scenes of the PeaceKeepers killing people in the street for rising up is something that I don't expect in 12A film.
There have been news reports that young people should not watch or interact with any form of media that might promote violence- this paranoia is nothing 1971 A Clockwork Orange is an example of this being banned from Cinemas and Multiplexes around the world. But my argument is that if the violence is within context and there is a reason for it to be happening then why not. I don't recommend that you guys start letting your kids watching Dexter or Saw but there is something about the way this film deals with a reality that is formed from fear- fear of living in a world that is chaotic and uncontrollable where authorities are then deciding to enslave the masses and keep them under the thumb to control them and therefore save themselves from this fear that is irrational.
I watched the Hunger Games with my friends, one was a massive fan the other hasn't really watched the films and doesn't understand the context and she actually said:
"I don't understand why they are doing this?"
Which is understandable- but a good point. I also got told off for predicting the films narrative and what is going to happen next.

Enders Games was different as it explores the possibility that using children who are good are war games could actually then lead a fleet to defeat the enemy. The difference with the lead character Ender Wiggins is that although he is a genius he also loves the enemy once he understands them. And that

Love will hold him back. The ending to the film made me cry... it highlighted how brutal the Human Race can be to unknown life forms- trying to understand them is not an option , they are a threat. Ender's thoughts about the threat and whether or not they should be understood is the key to this films narrative. The way in which Ender has this ability for compassion is seen as a weakness but could in fact be an actual strength.

Both films look at how young people can overcome obstacles that adults can't and their intuition is a massive thing in both narratives as well as compassion and the understanding of pain and suffering that other people/aliens can feel. Both Brilliant films watch them!

In Bruges (Brugge) review

So sitting quiet happily in lecture as you do and the lecturer pops in a DVD... instantly my eyes looked away from my MacBook Pro and facebook to see the DVD menu for In Bruges.

Basically we were watching it from a scriptwriting point of view to analyse structure of narrative and to pick up ln particular themes running the film as you do as a student!

What hit me at first that it was a Film 4 motion picture and to say that the British Film Industry has now become an export of skilled professionals in the art of film production it was refreshing to see a film that was made and produced by a British team.

The film itself was set in the lovely, picturesque city of Brugge Belgium (spelling it the Flemish way), with it's medieval architecture and canals which is why the city is famous.  The film is about 2 hit men who are sent to Brugge to carry out a contracted hit for the main villain Harry (Played by Lord Voldemort and M himself Ralf Fiennes). What they don't realise is after a series of events leading up to this trip to Belgium will lead one hit-man to commit suicide to save the other.

What struck me from the offset is how the narrative is dictated by the dialogue which is unusual for any type of film. When looking at the narrative it's the characters stand out the most. The characters are important and it's their underlying story lines that make this film what it is.

Colin Farrell's character Ryan is our main protagonist and in the film we find out what events have lead him to be in Brugge. Ryan is characteristically child like which can be seen through his dialogue. He is very childlike, repeating sentences and asking numerous amounts on questions that have been explained to him time and time again.  He realises on another Hit- Man who is in a way a father figure to him and this relationship is tested in the film from start to finish.
I must say nothing is plain sailing and as the film progresses there is more and more reveals that makes example of the theme.

The theme is of Religion and focuses on the Catholic Faith, there are many signatures in the film and Brugge is used a separate and important character in this to show this theme. It is not made obvious why Brugge is linked to this theme, but uses the beautiful churches in the city as a focus.

I did love this film but this was from my experiences in Brugge and taking a trip down memory lane.
I loved the narrative and the characterisation of this film and would recommend that people should watch it.

The End is Neigh - Ronald Emmerick's Masterpiece

Not many directors can boast that they have distroyed the world in a movie but the king of the disaster movie can.
We all know Ronald Emmerick the German who likes to pack a punch when it comes to natural disasters and the end of the world as we know it. So when the opportunity arose to make a film about the prediction made by the Mayans 1000's of years ago that the world would end on the 21st of December 2012 there was only one man for the job.

Although the irony of this post is the fact that we did survive and are now  in the last few months of 2013 (It's been a year since good old London town hosted the Olympics Games and Andy Murray won Wimbledon!),Emmerick gave us a terrifying look of what we could've expected if on the fateful day or in this case earlier to be expected the course of events would lead to the complete distruction of the Earth and everything that inhabits it.. so basically we were screwed from the outset.

So what could of we expected?

Where do I begin:
. Tsunamis
. Earth Quakes
. Super Volcanos
. Fault Lines Shifting

And thats just to name a few things that went on in this movie, unleashing Hell on Earth was Emmerick's plan and he succeeded!

The plot line is simple, Scientist discovers that the end of the world is coming, tells his American college.... who tells his boss... who rings the President and then he holds a meeting with other world leaders and then they agree to save their own arses and give out opportunities for the mega rich to buy themeselves tickets to save their skins from the end of the world to the wonderful and god awful disgusting tune of €1BILLION to board specially built archs that will survive the eventual Mega-Tsunami that will engulf the the earth and they'll sail away happily aboard making a new civilisation for themselves once they hit dry land whilst waiting for the water to recede.

So what about the rest of the world.. you and I ???

                 WE DIE!!!!

Yep again Emmerick can show you the cruelty humanity can go through when facing a massive crisis but surprisingly our main character played by the lovely John Cusack who plays a normal guy who is a struggling author, divorced parent of two beautiful children and a limmo driver for the mega rich russian buisness man. He discovers after getting caught going over a high security government fence in Yellowstone national park that all is not well and something is going on for the Government to keep something a huge secret, he meets a crazy man who tells him that hey you're going to die. With this events lead to the complete destruction of the Californian coast... LA literally gets taken back by the Pacific Ocean and that sets the wheels into motion. He takes action getting his ex wife, two children and ex wives boyfriend and in the midst of complete and total carnage drives them to the airport when he hires a plane and hopefully gets them out of dodge.

Anyway thats all you're going to know about the narrative otherwise i'm spoiling a complete and total Masterpiece.

2012 is for all those who love a good disaster movie, it's literally just a film that uses every scenario known to man of how the world could end by using Mother Nature herself or complete countries or even continents could be wiped out and combines them all in a feast for the senses! Forget everything you've seen before, throw The Day After Tomorrow out of the window that was just the eastern sea board of America and New York in particular, in this film you get to see California go, Yellowstone errupt, The Vatincan fall to pieces and even the White House being completely crushed by a wave so huge it would distroy everything in it's path. It is just complete and utter carnage, with masses of people being CGI'd to their deaths and countries just gone.
It is like Disaster Movie Porn in a way it's so over the top, hit you in the face ... This is the end of the world! But god is it worth it!!

I love this film from start to finish , it does have moments in the narrative where you are nearly in tears as it focuses on humanity in this extreme situation and how it adapts to these new conditions and shows just how cruel and fickle we are as a race. And how an everyday person can defy the odds and end up a hero.

I am rating this a 4 out of 5!

The Fifth Estate- Not What I Expected

Walking into the cinema I expected a film that would highlight Julian Assange as a Protagonist, the hero of this film rather than it's villain. But like most things my thoughts were further from the truth. The film doesn't in my view follow Julian Assange's fight and plight against bringing out a website that reveals secrets without revealing their sources, a Revolutionary of his time.

The film however is based on the book by Daniel Berg, Assange's right hand man, the film highlights Assange's past and how this effected his decisions and this is vital to how he is portrayed on screen. I'm still confused what the message was with Assange as a character, to me the way he is made out to be is a mentally unstable man who is obsessive and controlling and most importantly Damaged.

Thrown into the narrative was the relationship with the Guardian News Paper, who in the end made a deal with Assange to publish information about the war in Afghanistan. This also lead to the sub plot with the US government and how Wiki Leaks could've brought down the whole US government. It was in the sense the biggest Storm they were facing on both sides of the argument.

Regardless of the narrative which I have some major issues with, the film itself is well rounded and produced. It has the edge of a spy thriller to it from the outset, with the sub plot of government agencies and information that was so top secret that having it in the hands of someone like Wiki Leaks could be disastrous. Wiki Leaks is made out to be a new form of espionage for the 21st century, providing confidential information to be leaked without revealing it's sources to bring Truth and Justice to the masses.
Benedict Cumberbatch's performance was brilliant, after a while you were swept up in the way he had even mastered Assange's Australian accent, the bleached blonde hair(which I still don't know is a wig) and even mannerisms were perfection. I can see him earning a Oscar for that performance next year.
Daniel Burhl is our lead, although it Cumberbatch has been given the limelight due to his character being who he is, but the way in which Burhl plays Daniel Berg with this sense that somehow he is the victim and really our protagonist rather than the less important character or supporting character was interesting. In truth this might be because this film is Daniel Berg's story rather than Assange's story and this is felt as the film progress.

So here is the thing I want to address.... THE NARRATIVE!!!!

The narrative to me didn't have a clear resolution to it, the film didn't really tie up anything with the climax not even being pointed out to the audience which is sometimes a good tactic to have as a script writer but it seemed that the resolution was in a way was changed to fit a purpose that I could guess. I have nothing against the narrative, I think it's brilliantly written but something doesn't add up to me and this is just my opinion.  In the second act Assange is made out to be the villain of the piece or maybe the false hero of the piece. As an audience you can't really decide who you want to back and in a way you leave confused to who you should've felt empathy for. And this is still puzzling me right now and it will do until I watch it again or read the source information of this film. It's hard to put fact into fiction and transfer it to screen and in that respect I would recommend that you research up on the backstory to the film and more importantly the narrative.

Overall I thought that the film will provoke conversations on the issues that it addresses depending what your view is on the subject matter and whether you are in favour of what Assange has done. It was well edited and used real footage as well as film and had a lot of jokes which Media Students will get in an instant. I think that you have to watch this film with an open mind and not be sucked into it emotionally or view it in great detail and watch it as a drama rather than a documentary.
I would recommend watching this and really did enjoy it and loved Cumberbatch's performance in particular ... also look out for the new Doctor Who and Professor Lupin from Harry Potter making an appearance!!!

Review on the way... The Fifth Estate

The new film that everyone is talking about, the film about Wiki Leaks creator and journalist Julian Assange is out now in cinemas.

So with this in mind tonight i'll be going to see it.

Check the Blog tomorrow for the review , but in the meantime here is the trailer:

Armageddon- Michael Bay Masterpiece

To date I haven't really enjoyed Michael Bay films ... Transformers was one of those films that for me didn't really hit the nail on the head for narrative but visually was mind blowing.
Rewind to 1997 and to Armageddon, an end of the world epic that consists of a massive astriod and oil drillers going into space, now that is a film.

So when it popped on BBC 1 last night , I really wanted to watch it but it was bed time , fast forward to 20 minutes later, I opened Netflixs and decided I had to watch it!
From the outset you cannot tell it is stylistically a Michael Bay Film! No way it'a more in the style of the disaster movie king Ronald Emerich which for years I was under the impression it was a Emerich film rather than Bay.
Throw in lead characters being played by the hunky Ben Afleck (now an award winning director), The Veteran of action Bruce Willis and the daughter of a rock star Liv Tyler and you're onto a winner!

What this film managed to do was add not only the edge of your seat thrill to a film but also a comedy element throughtout with main characters and also not so important characters throwing in comedy elements such as Space Dementia - in NASA speak when you go looney in space and a few comical happenings when the first astroid hits New York City with a pun directed at Godzilla  and Bruce Willis shooting Afleck in the leg for sleeping with his onscreen daughter Liv Tyler it's not just another Disaster Flick no no.

The narrative follows the simple plot line of a huge bad ass astriod is going to collide with Earth and when it hits it'll cause the damage it did when the Dinos were wiped out all those Billions of years ago.
Cut to NASA and the whole of the American government freaking out and some of the greatest minds in the world stuck on ideas to actually get rid of the thing before it has chance to wipe out Earth and come up with the idea to blow it up with a nuclear weapon from the inside! sounds so simple.

But you might have a problem ... an MIT degree is not going to help you when you don't know how to drill!
Call in Bruce Willis... Our Hero of the piece, who from the outset thinks it's all some big joke... until he gets to Huston and realises that this is real and only he can save the earth!
What follows is a rollocoaster of events that you need in your second act cos lets face it the film would be boring otherwise.... and so it begins... days of NASA training and development of a drill powerful enough to cut through the unknown rock and a team of well to put it politely crooks and idiots.
Brilliant!!

The real underlying story is the narrative of  love, which is more James Cameron esque but Bay did do it with Transformers.  It was heart breaking and emotional ... Liv Tyler knows how to turn on the water works and you're there with her ... crying floods of tears!
Knowing that her father and fiancee are in space and that they may never come back ... is to some degree the worst.

Overall this film is a great film for both men and women ... it appeals with it's sci-fi disaster action and fast paced narrative for the men, but for a woman this film has the all important love story and all the emotional themes that we (that is a royal 'we') need to actually  maybe enjoy a film like this rather than loads of action which in the end will bore you.
I actually love this film and more importantly it's soundtrack performed by Liv Tyler's Daddy with the band Areosmith! If you weren't crying at the start of this you will by the end!

The Iron Lady- Maggie Thatcher's bio pic

When I first saw this on Netflix I was a little bit wary about watching a film that gained it's lead actress an academy award for playing the role of Britain's longest serving Prime Minster and the most controversial Prime Minister of the 20th century.

On the surface it looks like you will get to see the portrayal of the Margret Thatcher Britain remembers, the strong willed, ruthless and some times cold hearted woman that put the miners out of work and broke Britain's back. But in this film we see Margret at the end of her life as a lonely old woman clinging onto the memory of  her late husband. I think that sometimes the auidence are drawn into looking at her as a very old lonely old woman and to almost feel sorry for her but be that as it may as the film progresses we see Margret's flash backs from when she was a teenager to the resigning as Prime Minister. It looks over all aspects of her time including the miners strike and more interestingly The Falklands War.

Overall I did enjoy the film due down to the acting... Meryl Streep  played Margret Thatcher beautifully even mimicking her voice. When watching her you felt that you were infact watching Maggie athatcher after a while and the star of this film has to be Jim Broadbent as Dennis Thatcher, he was a joy to watch from start to finish... where was his Oscar??? I think that if you are going to watch this film, watch it with an open mind. Maybe as someone who never experienced life under Thatcher's rule I went into this film with no prior emotions, although I have heard nightmare stories about the great handbag herself!

I would recommend watching this film amd so would give it 3 stars out of 5.

Nicole Kidman takes on the role as a Princess

Yes this is the second time today that I have blogged about films that are all about Royal families.

Nicole Kidman stars later this year in the film Grace Of Monaco where she plays the Hollywood Queen Grace Kelly.

The film looks into the troubles and struggles that Monaco goes through difficult times with a dispute between her husband and the French in the early 1960's.
The film looks closely into Grace Kelly's Marriage to Prince Rainer III and Kelly's struggle with her identity as a famous Hollywood starlet turned Princess.

From the trailer (that will be posted at the end of this post) it has an air of old Hollywood, the stylistic way in which the colour in the film has been enhanced to look like the old 1950's and certainly early 1960's Old Hollywood Glamour has been added to make the piece more in my view nostalgic and beautiful.

Heres a quick look at the trailer...
